Argument over tax assessment turns into scuffle in Hazlehurst

The Jeff Davis County chief property appraiser has been charged after a dust-up over a property tax notice turned ugly in Hazlehurst Thursday.

Three county residents showed up at the Tax Assessor’s Office to protest what they considered a high reassessment of their property, Police Chief Steven Land said.
