Raymond Blanton was being extra careful with his choices as he and his family shopped for fireworks Sunday at a Mandarin sales tent.
Loud noises could be distressing to him — Blanton is a disabled veteran with post-traumatic stress disorder — and his two children, ages 3 and 2.
He wanted his purchases to be low on sound effects, but produce showers of glittery, colorful, magical light, he said. And he was partial to three particular colors.
"Red, white and blue," Blanton said.
